Phillip Island penguins
The nightly Penguin Parade takes place at sunset at Summerland Beach, at the south west tip of Phillip Island. The sight of hundreds of Phillip Island penguins waddling up onto the beach is a must see here when visiting Phillip Island.
The Penguin Parade building houses an attractive display about the life of the so-called Fairy Penguin or Little Penguin. Though only 30cm tall the penguins manage to walk for many kilometres to their nest, guided by the chirpy calls of their penguin mate.
When leaving the Phillip Island Penguin Parade please check under your car for any penguins prior to driving off. To preserve and protect the fragile penguin habitat the road past the Penguin Parade is closed off to all traffic from sunset to sunrise.
